The MLB offseason has already started heating up as the Tigers recently dealt slugger Prince Fielder to the Rangers, and now the New York Mets have become latest team to make some moves.

New York signed outfielder Chris Young to a one year, $7.25 million contract, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports. The finalized deal would be announced after Young completes a physical.

The deal marks the first significant move the organization has made this offseason as the team hopes to rebound from a string of years in obscurity and irrelevance at the cellar of the National League.

The 30 year old outfielder hit only .200 in 107 games in 2013 but is known for his talented abilities defensively. The Mets reportedly plan to use him as a corner outfielder as opposed to the center field spot.

Furthermore, the team may look for even more options soon; it was rumored that New York had interest in outfielders Curtis Granderson and Nelson Cruz.

Mets first baseman Ike Davis has been said to be on the trading block for quite some time, so the team could possibly look to ship him in an attempt to acquire some needed infield talent or bullpen pitchers.

Some bigger deals could be on the way down the line, especially with the winter meetings on the horizon next month, but the Tigers and Rangers most likely made what could be the biggest trade this offseason. Fielder's struggles last season -- coupled with his massive contract -- proved to be too much for the Tigers to handle at the time.
