Patrick Dempsey might have already decided to quit "Grey's Anatomy," but he has revealed that his acting days are far from being over. Apparently, Dempsey is not yet ready to trade in his career as an actor to be a full-time racer.

"I definitely love racing," Dempsey told PEOPLE. "I am not retiring from acting."

Reports have pointed out that Demspey will actually be among the actors of an upcoming holiday film, entitled, "Mission: S.O.P.," according to the details posted on IMDB. The drama comedy will reportedly be directed by Gabriel Schmidt and will be hitting theaters on December.

"Mission: S.O.P" will be about a 10-year-old girl who embarks on a mission in order to save her family in time for Christmas Day.

According to the report, Dempsey's role is going to be the little girl's father, Hunter Baker. He will be joined in the film's cast are Carlotta Montanari and former Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman.

Although he will continue to be an actor, he recently opened up that he loves the race track so much, he cannot just quit. "I love the camaraderie and the fellowship," Dempsey shared to PEOPLE. "I think the challenge is with oneself and not so much your fellow competitors, necessarily."

As evidence of how much he loves the sport, Dempsey was selected to kick off Sunday's Indy 500 event as the honororary starter. He was tasked to wave the green flag as a signal for the racers to rev their engines. It was a symbol that the 99th running of the much awaited Indianapolis 500 auto race has already begun.

At the event, Dempsey was looking dreamy in a charcoal gray jacket and relatively simple jeans.

Apparently, his love for racing has started ”way back then" when he was still a young boy. He shared a time when he would excitedly sit on the front seat of their family station wagon and listen to the Indy 500 broadcast.

"I am ready to go to Le Mans in about a week's time," he added. "I just love it. It is really stimulating both physically and mentally."
