In the time leading up to the release of NBA 2K14, 2K Sports unleashed an all-out Lebron James advertising campaign. Although it has clearly paid off in terms of games sold, 2K Sports seems to have calmed down with its cover athlete.

"The underwhelming, LeBron-idolising Path to Greatness mode has been cut in favour of an involved MyGM offering, along with the overhauled MyCareer and its online Park feature, which together help to create a hoops package that feels distinct beyond its visual upgrade," Xbox Magazine's U.K. page said today.

NBA 2K14 enjoyed great success upon its release back in the fall, which was especially impressive considering the comeback of NBA Live this basketball season. In the end, NBA Live was not only disappointing by itself but was also disastrous when compared with the incredible graphics and gameplay featured in NBA 2K14.

Notably, the complaints surrounding this game have mostly revolved around the connections to the servers, which is a rather normal and common complaint among next-gen games since they were just released a few months ago.

The next biggest complaint has been with the microtransactions that have irritated gamers who want to be able to gain their level based on merit rather than being able to pay even extra despite already paying hundreds of dollars on a game console and the NBA 2K video game.

At least the gamers have been getting locker codes from 2K Sports as a way to get payback for the server errors. The online updates are also a plus to the game, but then there are the microtransactions that nobody likes.
