Multi-instrumentalist and former guitarist of The Mars Volta/At the Drive-In Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has joined forces with Red Hot Chili Peppers' departed guitarist John Frusciante to create new project, Kimono Kult. The friends and longtime collaborators will be playing alongside frontwoman and guitarist Teri Gender Bender (Le Butcherettes, Bosian Rainbows); Nicole Turley on bass, drum machine, trumpets and backing vocals; Dante White-Aliano on guitar, and Laena Geronimo (Frusciante's wife) on violin, bass and trumpets.

The talented ensemble cast is able to synthesize "signature styles and influences from a cream of crop wrecking crew." Each member brings something special and authentic to the album, including stellar string arrangements, striking lyrics, "slithering guitar line interlaces" and dueling trumpet lines.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and John Frusciante are close affiliates: Rodriguez-Lopez made a guest appearance on Frusciante's Shadows Collide With People (2004) and Inside of Emptiness (2004), and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadia. Frusciante has provided guitar work for: The Mars Volta's albums, The Bedlam In Goliath and Octahedron; Rodriguez-Lopez's solo albums, Se Dice Bisonte, No Búfalo and Calibration (Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far); and he executive produced Rodriguez-Lopez's directional film debut, The Sentimental Engine Slayer. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & John Frusciante was the first album that the two created together; and they completed Sepulcros de Miel as a quartet -- along with Juan Alderete and Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez.

Kimono Kult's debut EP, Hiding In The Light, will be digitally released on Mar. 4 under Neurotic Yell Records, who helped to record, produce and "shot-call" the album. The freshman feature has been described as "four songs of electro/dub/afro-beat/avant-freak/jazz-like conversations of instrumental ecstasy."

Pre-orders for Hiding In The Light are now available for $5 on the site's Bandcamp page. The album will be presented in a variety of high-quality formats (MP3, FLAC, and more). The four songs on the LP are "Todo Menos El Dolor," "Las Esposas," "La Vida Es Una Caja Hermosa," and "La Cancion De Alejandra."
