This week a number of Indie films will be released as studios will not compete with the giant blockbusters currently in cinemas.

"The Forger": John Travolta returned to the action drama in a film by Philip Martin. The new film tells the story of a thief who works with his father and son to forge a painting by Monet and steal the original. Together, they plan the heist of their lives. The film did not have a theatrical run and instead was released through VOD. The heist thriller also stars Tye Sheridan, Christopher Plummer and Abigail Breslin and is likely to appeal to Travolta fans. However, don't expect a huge crowd as the movie received terrible reviews and currently has a 6 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Lost for Words": Two years after the release of the romantic drama, "Lost for Words" will finally make its way to DVD. The film tells the story of an ex-Marine who falls in love with a ballerina from China. Against mounting cultural and religious pressure, the two star-crossed lovers risk it all in pursuit of true love. The Indie film boasts no real stars and did not really get a theatrical run. It also received mixed reviews and little press. Don't expect this film to get much exposure as it will likely remain in obscurity.

"Stop the Pounding Heart": Big World Pictures will release the Cannes Film Festival documentary, which opened last year. The film tells the story of Sara, a girl being home-schooled on a goat farm alongside her 11 siblings, who finds her devout values challenged after she meets Colby, an amateur bull rider.

The film scored mixed reviews when it opened and Big World gave the doc a small marketing campaign. In the end it flopped, and it received very little exposure. VOD will probably be the best platform for this film, and it will likely attract documentary fans.

"Survivor": Starring Milla Jovovich and Pierce Brosnan, the new film by James McTeigue tells the story of a Foreign Service Officer in London who tries to prevent a terrorist attack set to hit New York but is forced to go on the run when she is framed for crimes she did not commit. When the film opened earlier this year, the theatrical run was limited, and instead, the distributors decided on mostly VOD.

Reviews were not very good as most said it was predictable and shallow. Expect action fans to watch it. However, with the oversaturated market, this one should easily get lost.

The week also include releases of "Workaholics: Season Five," "Mythbusters Collection 12," "If There Be Thorns" and Jean-Claude Van Damme's latest film "Pound of Flesh." Disney will also release the hit series "Teen Beach Movie Part 2."

For those not interested in any of these releases, the theaters will offer a number of great films, including record-breaking film "Jurassic World" and Pixar's critically acclaimed "Inside Out." Indie hits include "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" and "Dope."
