Rapper and entrepreneur Sean Combs was arrested Monday on several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, in an alleged incident that happened on the University of California, Los Angeles campus, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Combs was arrested Monday afternoon at the UCLA Acosta Athletic Training Complex for allegedly assaulting the football coach with a kettlebell, according to police.

A kettlebell is usually made of cast iron. It is a round piece of weightlifting equipment with a handle.

At the time of the arrest, the rap mogul was held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Police updated the charges late Monday night to three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of battery and one count of making terrorist threats.

No one was seriously injured during the incident.

Combs was booked into the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Inmate Reception Center Monday evening. He posted bail and was released at 9:50 p.m., according to authorities.

Sources close to Diddy told TMZ the "Big Homie" rapper claims he acted in self-defense and was not the aggressor.

"I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," Bruins head coach Jim Mora said. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."

The rapper's son, Justin Combs, is a defensive back on the UCLA Bruins football team. Justin accepted a full merit-based athletic scholarship in 2012 to play football at UCLA. On the Bruins website, his biography page states that he has played in seven games. He's listed as a redshirt junior which, according to the Los Angeles Times, means that he can play football this year and next year.

Snoop Dogg's son, Cordell Broadus, also plays on the team.
