Teen fashion designer, Kyemah McEntyre made her red carpet debut last night at the 2015 BET Awards without having to be present.

The 18-year-old designer, who first made waves on social media a few weeks ago when she posted an image of her prom dress, was given the opportunity to design a dress for Naturi Noughton, after the singer was inspired by the young teen's message of cultural acceptance.

Noughton, reports Cosmopolitan, reached out to McEntyre and the result of their meeting was the stunning gown that the singer walked the red carpet in at the BET awards.

"Naturi contacted me through e-mail, and we talked over the phone about her ideal dress," McEntyre told NecoleBitchie blog. "She explained to me that she wanted to connect with her African roots as well."

Since posting pictures of her prom dress, the New Jersey native, who was crowned prom queen, has since had to change Instagram accounts because she got hacked, but the effect her prom dress had was a very positive one.

"She wanted to shed light on young people from her community [East Orange, New Jersey] and that she did," continued McEntyre. "I enlisted a local seamstress by the name of Markell Mockabee, who brought my design to life."

According to Yahoo Style, the teen chose to use her design skills as a way to silence those who have criticized her based on her look, captioning a photo of her wearing the dress with "This is for always being labeled as, "ugly" or "angry". Thank God, stereotypes are just opinions."

Most recently Noughton has used her new found fame to express ideas about cultural diversity and freedom of expression through art to her social media followers.

"My abilities as an artist allows me to experience the benefits that versatility fosters," she captioned a post on Instagram. "Being exposed to all kinds of people and cultures is the muse for my artwork. I am an aspiring artist who is very passionate about the connection between art and the world. I believe that in order for society to gain a wider horizon, we have to be willing to acknowledge other people from differences, beliefs, morals, and values."

Next up McEntyre hopes to attend Parsons the New School for Design in the fall.
