As "Proof" continues its run on TNT, Matthew Modine revealed what it is like behind of the scenes of the show.

Modine is one of the veteran character actors working in the industry today and is known for his work on "Full Metal Jacket" and most recently in "The Dark Knight Rises." In the show "Proof" he plays the character of Ivan Turing, a cancer patient obsessed with finding out what happens in the afterlife. Modine's Turing persuades lead actress Jennifer Beals' character, Dr. Carolyn Tyler, to help him find the answer.

In a recent interview Modine revealed that making "Proof" has been liberating as he compares it to making movies in old school Hollywood.

"When I started in the industry, it (took) three to four months to make a film," he told the Detroit Free Press. "There were exceptions: Working with Kubrick on 'Full Metal Jacket' I was in England for almost two years. 'Proof' was the old feature-length film production schedule."

Modine added that "Proof" "gives us the opportunity to explore the different kinds of beliefs (about an afterlife) and perhaps spark a conversation."

"Proof", currently airing on TNT, was shot on location in Vancouver, Canada in various locations and was created by Rob Bragin. The show has obtained mixed reviews with critics praising Beals' performance but noting that the show lacks a compelling story and plot. The first episode aired on June 16 and had modest viewership.

The series also stars Callum Blue, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, and Moe Morton. Serving as executive producers for the show are Kyra Sedgwick ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "The Closer"), Rob Bragin ("Greek," "Murphy Brown"), Tom Jacobson ("Uncle Buck," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"), Jill Littman and Alex Graves ("Game of Thrones," "The West Wing").

"Proof" airs at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays on TNT.
