Emma Watson was named Campaigner of The Year at the 2015 Ethical Awards for her role as U.N. Women ambassador and with the HeForShe campaign.

The Observer Ethical Awards, distributed yearly, honor those making a difference for environmental issues and social injustice around the world, and this year the "Harry Potter" star received one of its distinguished honors.

The British actress took to social media to thank the organization for the award and to thank the U.N. Women's group for accepting the award for her.

"Thank you @ObserverEthical for awarding me Campaigner of the Year! Honoured! I want to share this w every @HeForShe out there," she said on Twitter. "Special thanks to the brilliant team at @UN_Women and to @liviafirth who accepted the award on my behalf. #heforshe #ethicalawards."

The Brown University graduate, who received a degree in English Literature, has been campaigning for HeForShe, an organization that calls for men and women to support gender equality through out the world.

Headquarters last year, is also ambassador for Camfed International, an organization that fights for education girls in Africa. Currently she has been making trips to Uruguay campaigning for the participation of women in politics.

"Her commitment to the issues that we work on at UN Women multiplies our ability to reach and engage more young," U.N. Women executive director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said.
