Rachel McAdams is expected to make her Marvel debut in the upcoming "Doctor Strange" film.

According to Heroic Hollywood, McAdams has been offered the female lead in the new Marvel film. However, no specific role was mentioned.

Marvel has been faithful to the comic books featuring the most popular heroines of each characters. If the company continues to stick to the formula, McAdams will likely play Clea.

In the comic books, Clea is a silver-haired sorceress and the lover Stephen Strange. She is also the niece of Dormammu, the demonic archenemy of Doctor Strange. Clea also proves to be Strange's greatest ally in the Dark Dimension. If Clea is in the film then Marvel will likely set up the Dormammu plot that is so popular in the comic books. But, unfortunately fans will have to wait until McAdams and her representatives actually confirm the news and the role she is playing.

The character of Clea was first portrayed in the 1978 Doctor Strange TV movie, in which she was portrayed as a human with no magical abilities and was also the lover of Dr. Strange.

Marvel's new series "Doctor Strange" is set to begin filming this fall with Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One. The movie will be part of phase three and it is highly speculated that the hero will likely show up in the last Avengers film in 2018.

The film is expected to tell the story of "an arrogant surgeon who gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer trains him to defend the world against evil." The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson, who is known for his work on "Deliver Us from Evil" and "Sinister."

Marvel is expected to release the film on Nov. 6, 2015 in 3D.
