WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Season 3 of Homeland.

Some Homeland fans are still holding out hope that Damian Lewis will return for the show's fourth season. The possibility seems to have shrunken, however, as the actor is now under consideration to star in a new series.

According to Variety, Lewis will likely star in Wolf Hall, a six-part television series that will air in the United Kingdom and United States on BBC and PBS respectively. The show is based on Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, historical fiction novels by Hilary Mantel that discuss the Tudor-era.

Lewis, who played Brody in Showtime's Homeland for three seasons, is reportedly considering taking on the role of Henry VIII.

The show will also star Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell, according to Daily Mail.

The death of Brody came as a shock to Homeland viewers. The plot twist was so shocking, in fact, that some could not believe it was true. Lewis, on the other hand, knew that Brody was a goner since the beginning of season 3.

"I was not surprised because I knew from the outset taking this job that Brody's life expectancy was not as long as the other characters," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I knew they had decided to kill Brody unequivocally at the [season 3] premiere in D.C. ... I said [to showrunner Alex Gansa], 'Alex I got a lot of stuff in storage in North Carolina. I just need to know if I should take it out or leave it there.' He looked at me and said: 'You should take it out.'"

Of course, there is still a glimmer of hope: that enticing flashback/dream sequence/ghost of Brody scene.

"Never say never," Lewis said about the possibility of doing such a scene.

Lewis is also set to co-star alongside Nicole Kidman, James Franco and Robert Pattinson in Werner Herzog's 2015 film, Queen of the Desert.
