Philip Rivers does not know what the future holds for him, but the Chargers hope they'll find out together.

NFL reports the San Diego Chargers are hoping to have a new contract for Rivers before training camp. After trade rumors swirling around during the NFL draft, the Chargers are keen on keeping Rivers throughout his career. General manager Tom Telesco wants a long-term contract with the star quarterback.

Earlier in the offseason, Rivers said he plans to play out the remaining year of his contract.

"What I can control and all I know as of today, I am signed up for one more year," he said. "I guess things could change, but with all the uncertainty in many aspects, I don't see it changing before camp gets here, and when camp gets here I'm even more certain to play it out."

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Rivers is showing a "little bit of urgency" during these contract talks. He is willing to listen to any offer the Chargers have. If the Chargers decided to move to Los Angeles at any point in the coming years, Rivers hasn't ruled out playing in Los Angeles, but there are cities he has his eyes on, particularly in the south, explained NFL.

Rivers had a pretty good 2014 campaign. He threw for 4,286 yards with 31 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He is also known for being the centerpiece in the New York Giants trade that sent fellow quarterback Eli Manning to the Giants.

It's likely Rivers is in wait-and-see mode, and his future with the franchise could very well be tied to a potential Los Angeles relocation. Nonetheless, according to NBC Sports, Rivers has said previously that it "would be awesome" if he could continue playing with the Chargers.
