The Android 5.1 Lollipop update is now available to a number of Android devices, but another smartphone will have to wait for its arrival a little while longer as AT&T announced that they have "temporarily suspended" the update roll out to Moto X 2013 devices.

The telecommunications company made the announcement on the suspension beginning Monday, although the reason for the suspension was not explained.

"UPDATE SUSPENDED Effective July 20, 2015, the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) software update for the Moto X (XT1058) has been temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible," stated the company.

Back in July, AT&T informed its Moto X subscribers that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update was approved and ready for roll out the soonest possible time, reported Gotta Be Mobile.

The announcement was followed by multiple roll out on Moto X devices from the year 2014, outside the United States and other Motorola units. It was greeted with enthusiasm as many owners have been eager to get a feel and experience first hand one of the massive OS updates released for Android.

But while some Moto X users have already updated their system to Android 5.1, many complaints surfaced as soon as the new upgrade was installed.

First, the device's sudden inability to adjust the APN settings was part of the reported concerns. Increased static noise that emanates from the speaker and battery life complaints were also among those that users noted.

It seems that before more issues come about, AT&T has already decided to address the problems.

While AT&T did not clarify what is causing the hold up on their end to roll out the update, it appears that the issues and problems that have arisen have something to do with devices upgraded directly to the 5.1 Lollipop from the KitKat 4.4 version, Gotta Be Mobile added.

Meanwhile, it is speculated that the memory leak issue that came with the Android 5.1 that has been fixed with the 5.1.1 update is also part of the reason why the company decided to halt the roll out until it can be fixed.

AT&T has not given any timeline as to when users can expect the roll out to be available once again. Moto X owners will just have to rely on further announcements and feedback.
