If you own either Sony Xperia Z2 or Xperia Z3 phone series, you're in luck. Your gadget is set to undergo a major Android reboot!

It has been reported that a new operating system update has been released to select Xperia Z3 and Xpera Z2 series.

Through a statement released on Sony Mobile, the company confirmed that Android 5.1, also known as the newer Lollipop, is now being rolled out to Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.

The update would have additional customization options like silent modes, better notification mechanics, and camera improvements with enhanced auto-mode focus.

It also features a fresher Settings Menu interface,  more data sharing options as well as newer animation effects. Through the update, users will be able to take selfies with SmartWear. They can use Sony's SmartWatch 3 as a shutter button.

Users can manually install the Android 5.1 on their Sony Xperia Z3, Z2 series through OTA by selecting "Yes" upon receiving update notifications, then tapping "Install  Now" after the download. The phone will automatically reboot after the download and the OS will be updated to the new version.

The roll out process will be through phases and users are requested to be patient since it will take some time for the firmware to reach all corners of the globe. Roll out is allegedly underway in Japan.

The update will soon make its way to Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra in the coming weeks. In a few months time, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will have invaded Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia C3, original Xperia Z Series, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua.

Reports of the new Android OS for Sony users came around the same time speculation run abuzz over the tech giant's impending announcement regarding their new flagship smartphones.

A report in Germany has it that the high-end gadgets are the Xperia S60 and Xperia S70. The same German source claimed that the new offering from Sony will be available in their country by August.

The Sony Xperia S60 will come in white, black, and coralie while Xperia S70 will be in white, black, green, and gold. Both will employ a built-in 32GB storage capacity.

There is still no official announcement about the price of the two devices but the rumor's source maintains that they would cost as much as the Z3+ and Z4 which is roughly around the $850-$920 range.
