Daniel Radcliffe has been parting ways with his boyish image from "Harry Potter" as of lately and making more adult-oriented films such as "The Woman in Black" and "Horns."

Now, the British actor is taking a new role, as an American FBI agent in the upcoming film "Imperium," according to Deadline.

Radcliffe, best known for playing the title character in the "Harry Potter" films, has been cast as an agent in the upcoming FBI thriller and will be taking his unique acting talents to Quantico. He is set to play the lead role in the film, which is focused on a domestic terrorism plot.

The story is based on true events, and Radcliffe will portray the real-life Michael German.

The plot unfolds as German, a young FBI agent on the rise, goes undercover to infiltrate a group of white supremacists. The group is planning to make a dirty bomb and use it in an undisclosed location.

German spent years deep undercover in American neo-Nazi groups part of homegrown militias.

Radcliffe does not start production on the film until this fall, but he will be quite busy with other projects on his plate. His upcoming films will include "Swiss Army Man" and "Victor Frankenstein" with James McAvoy. "Victor Frankenstein" is slated to hit theaters this fall on Nov. 25.

Radcliffe will also be doing a show on BBC2 TV in England, titled "Game Changer." This TV movie is about Rockstar Games president Sam Houser.

Once production begins on "Imperium," the film will be shopped around by UTA, an independent film group. There has been no word yet on when it is planned to be released.

Daniel Ragussis, a short filmmaker, will make his feature film debut with the movie. He co-wrote the script with German. Producers for the film are Ty Walker, Dennis Lee and Simon Taufique.
