Bungie's "Destiny" is set to come out with its third expansion pack in September. "The Taken King" DLC is reportedly bringing major upgrades to the game, including an "experience-based leveling" system and a new voice for the popular character, Ghost.

The leveling system of "Destiny" has always been confusing to many players. While level 1 up to 20 is pretty easy, the following levels from 20 to 34 seemed to be haphazard in the way it was made to focus on gear advancement that left many stagnant in one level for a long time.

But it seems that the developers have heard the comments of its players, as Bungie will finally introduce a new leveling system on its upcoming expansion pack, "The Taken King."

The new levels have also been upgraded with a new cap of up to 40, reported Game Informer.

For each level unlocked, new gear and armor will also be made available to increase the player's power.

Creative Director Luke Smith said that the reason for the change is because many players were left unable to change their level because of factors that cannot be helped.

"The conflation of gear and character level led to this place where your identity was determined by things outside of your control," he said. "We don't want to do that."

With the new system, players will be able to advance to the next level by simply earning XPs.

Aside from this welcome change in the leveling system, those who will install "The Taken King" on its launch date will also notice a difference in Ghost, the AI-robot helping the Guardians.

Game Informer confirmed that "Game of Thrones" actor Peter Dinklage has been replaced by voice actor Nolan North.

Ghost plays a pivotal role in the video game as the narrator and guide of the players.

North is no stranger in lending his voice to video games. He was behind Nathan Drake in the "Uncharted" series and was also in "Assassin's Creed."

The voice actor expressed his delight in taking over from Dinklage.

"I was really excited to do this role," he admitted. "You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There's a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it."

North will also record previous dialogue made by Ghost to ensure consistency in the narrative.

"We wanted Nolan North's version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty," revealed Smith.

The reason for replacing Dinklage was not revealed.

Meanwhile, not all old gear from Year One of the game will be playable in "The Taken King" expansion pack. The reason for this change is that the new leveling system in the upcoming DLC will introduce new gear and armor, as levels are unlocked.

However, Smith revealed that their team has "built a whole bunch of new toys" and "better versions" of old weapons for the players to enjoy, reported Game Informer in another article.

"The Taken King" will arrive to Destiny for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 15.
