The conservative Christian Duggar family takes courtship very seriously. Their children start courting someone special with the ultimate goal being marriage. All of the Duggar courtships fans have seen over the years on TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" resulted in engagements and marriages, but not in the case of Josiah Duggar, 18, and 17-year-old Marjorie Jackson.

Four months after confirming their courtship, Duggar and Jackson have ended their relationship, reports In Touch Weekly.

The young couple announced their breakup in a statement released by both families.

"Both Josiah and Marjorie have enjoyed getting to know each other and [building] their friendship over the past months," the statement reads on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page.

"We are so grateful that they each are seeking the Lord's will for their future. A few weeks ago Marjorie and Josiah agreed to end their courtship, keeping in step with what they believe the Lord's will is. Both are thankful for the time getting to know each other, and their families continue to enjoy each other's company and close friendship."

The former couple began courting on April 6, the same day his sister, Jill Dillard, and her husband, Derick, welcomed newborn son Israel David.

Duggar first confirmed his courtship to People magazine in April.

"It's been going very well," Duggar gushed, referring to his new romance with Jackson. "I met Marjorie a few years ago, when I was taking Spanish lessons at her house and I was very impressed with the way she was with her siblings and her love for the Lord."

Their breakup comes shortly after TLC decided to cancel "19 Kids and Counting" following the revelation of Josh Duggar's molestation scandal as a teenager, leading some of the show's fans to speculate that Jackson was only interested in Duggar because she hoped to benefit from his family's television fame.

Many fans cited her behavior in TLC's courtship announcement video in which she came across less than genuine -- as though auditioning for a scripted TV series. Also in the video, Duggar tells fans that their relationship will be a part of future "19 Kids and Counting" episodes.
