After last night's episode, only eight contestants remain in the running in the current season of MasterChef, while the upcoming 14th episode will see the chefs battle it out with animal heads to come up with amazing dishes that will satisfy the judges.

It was a sad moment to see one of the fan favorites, Shelli Flash, go home in last night's episode of the series. While she has been up and down in her performances in the season, it was disappointing to see that what was touted as a simple challenge was the reason she exited, noted CarterMatt.

While the challenge included chicken and waffles, which seemed to be right up on Shelli's league, it wasn't so much about the dish that proved to be her downfall, but the pressure she placed on herself that highlighted the improvements she still needs.

Katrina did well even if she was at the bottom of the list. Tommy and Hetal proved their kitchen prowess as their dishes resulted to masterpieces in the challenge. Shelli, who initially thought the challenge was her expertise, left her chicken undercooked.

Stephen took home the win for the first challenge of the night, which earned him a spot in the top three of the competition along with Derrick and Claudia. But since the season is far from over, it has yet to be seen if Stephen really has what it takes to be the next Master Chef.

Next week's episode will see the contestants take part in a vegetarian team challenge. It is the first time the show will feature such a dish and it seems exciting how the chefs will take all the ingredients and come up with something that will excite the judges.

However, it seems ironic as the pressure test will take use of something meat-related. In fact, it's the part of meat that rarely gets cooked and included in the dishes - animal heads.

While cooking the animal head might not be any different from the other protein dishes that uses the same meat, it can be quite disconcerting to see the main ingredient staring back at you with empty eyes.

At this point, it seems that anyone can shine in next week's episode, noted Carter Matt. Derrick, Claudia and Stephen might be on the top, but one should not rule out Hetal, considering it's her expertise that will be the main focus of the team test next week.

But with emotions and the stress running high in all of the chefs, it remains to be seen who will succeed in the said challenge.

"MasterChef Season 6" airs on FOX every Wednesday at 8 p.m.
