Theo and Tabitha Galvan, the hot, new villains to appear during the second season of "Gotham," will rise to power, and they'll collect heads on their way up.

Promotional artwork for the sophomore series, which stars Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor and David Mazouz, was recently released, and the banner image that captures the faces of the actors against a portrait-laden urban horizon resembling the Batman emblem.

The new artwork also includes the face of two newcomers, Theo Galvan ("True Blood," "True Detective" actor James Frain), a billionaire hell-bent on saving the city from itself, and his sister Tabitha ("Cult," "Gracepoint" actress Jessica Lucas), also known as the fiercely wicked Tigress. Both will be series regular during the upcoming season. Additionally, photographer Mark Seliger snapped photos of Frain and Lucas while in character for the upcoming season.

Other artwork captures the entire cast as well, with the center of the image depicting the young Bruce Wayne explore his future cave, with the words "Rise of the Villains" resting below the show's title. The promo hints at the dark nature that's to come during the upcoming season.

While the first season divided fans, the upcoming season of "Gotham" promises to boast more action, more villains, more suspense and more casualties. The pre-Batman dark fantasy series will continue to leave fans panting, and unable to predict what twists and turns lie ahead. The early departure of some of Gotham's favorites, such as Fish Mooney, is likely an early indicator of what kind of surprises lay ahead. During the second season, not only will there be new villains, but old villains will flourish and former allies will change paths.

"Gotham" returns Monday, Sept. 21 on FOX.
