Booth will be missing in action when "Bones" kicks off its 11th season on Fox this fall.

As fans may recall during the finale, Booth and Brennan decided to resign from their positions at the Jeffersonian and begin a new journey. Although the couple traded in their crime-fighting careers for a peaceful lifestyle, Booth will be gone at the start of the new season due to a family-related issue .

"It's a very personal reason. It's a family reason. He gets involved in something that's very close to home and is probably the only thing that would pull him away from the tranquil life that he was leading up until that moment," teased new showrunner Michael Peterson, according to Entertainment Weekly.

To help find Booth, the show has recruited "24" alum Kim Raver for the first two episodes of the season, reports TVLine. Raver will play a FBI special agent named Grace Miller who assists the investigation surrounding Booth's disappearance.

TVLine also revealed that "Greek" star Dilshad Vadsaria will reprise her role as Padme, the wife of Booth's brother Jared, who is played by Brendan Fehr. This could mean that Fehr will return to the show as well.

Vadsaria, who played Padma Lahari on "Revenge," was introduced on the show back in 2010 during the Season 5 episode, "The Dentist in the Ditch." That was also the last time Jared had a significant role on the long running series.

While it has not been confirmed whether or not Jared will return in Season 11, the title of the second episode of the season, "The Brother in the Basement," seems to be a big hint that he will.

Furthermore, viewers can expect back-to-back crossover episodes between "Bones" and "Sleepy Hollow" in the upcoming season. Sources told Entertainment Weekly that the date for the crossover event has been set for Thursday, Oct. 29.

Season 11 of "Bones" will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
