Sony's Firmware 2.0 introduced a USB Music Player, voice command, and the Share Factory app to the PlayStation 4. It also allowed players to share their game clips directly to YouTube.

PS4's 2.5 update had the "Suspended Game" capability, customizable buttons, and debuted a social media sharing feature.

Fans expecting more from PlayStation 4's OS will be happy to know that update 3.0 is on its way. It promises to improve on its present feature while offering some cool new perks.

The upcoming PS4 firmware 3.0 is currently being beta tested in Japan and details of the update have been leaked online courtesy of a generous Japanese beta tester.

Gameplay broadcasting through YouTube will be firmware 3.0's main draw, according to Gematsu, which cited a report from Pocket News.

In June, several outlets discussed the popular streaming website's plans to create a new online portal to host gaming content. Apparently, the PS4 will be one of its clients.

The new YouTube feature will be able to live stream up to 25,000 games from a variety of video channels from different game publishers.

"Live streams bring the gaming community closer together, so we've put them front-and-center on the YouTube Gaming homepage. On top of existing features like high frame rate streaming at 60fps, DVR, and automatically converting your stream into a YouTube video, we're redesigning our system so that you no longer need to schedule a live event ahead of time," YouTube Product Manager Alan Joyce explained.

IGN speculated that games like "Grand Theft Auto 5," "Minecraft," "Advanced Warfare," "League of Legends," and "The Sims 4" will be compatible with YouTube Gaming although a full list of supported games is not yet available.

Other features from PS4's update 3.0 include the following:

  •  "Event" menu is added, which allows players to find events related to PlayStation, join them and watch them.
  •  "Community" is added to "friend" menu that enables players to make new communities or join existing ones.
  •  Gamers can now see a list of what other users are playing via "Now Playing". From the list, they can easily start a game or form a party. Gamers could also view other users' gameplay.
  •  "Message" function will now be displaying "Now Playing." Players could also use it to add groups to their favorite list.
  •  It is now possible to upload video clips to Twitter

The leak also tackled a new "Sub Account" feature in which parents can add parental controls to the console for their kids.

As with all juicy online leaks, this should be taken with a grain of salt until Sony's official announcement arrives.
