Microsoft won't be able to deliver an earlier promise but the company is sure to make up for it soon. The tech giant initially announced the release of the next batch of Xbox One backwards compatible games this week but it will not be pushing through. Instead, the new wave of older titles will be arriving next week.

Microsoft's Xbox division head Phil Spencer took to social media to inform fans of the delay.

To recall, Preview Program members currently have exclusive access to backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, Game Spot reported.

Some may have been expecting to try out the new list of older titles this week. However, the next batch of games will pale in comparison to the onslaught Microsoft has planned for all their console gamers this Holiday season. The feature will be available for every Xbox One user this November at which time 100 backwards-compatible games will be announced. Furthermore, all future Xbox 360 games carrying Gold titles will also start being backwards-compatible by then. Spencer also said recently that backwards compatibility might extend to original Xbox games. He teased the possibility on Twitter.

Microsoft sees their exclusive content as a legitimate edge in competing against Sony and is playing to their strengths to rival PlayStation 4's slightly better graphics. As mentioned above, the Washington-based tech company is set to unveil new Xbox One-exclusive contents that they expect would tip the gaming wars towards their favor before the year ends.

According to Game Rant, the PlayStation 4 has topped the Xbox One in sales for the better part of this year.

However, the Xbox One's constant drive for new updates and features slowly impressed followers. The latest generation Xbox showed it was capable of going number one as it stole the month of April from Sony. Naturally, the slight glimmer of victory was all that it took for Microsoft to up the ante even more.

In an interview with Games Industry, Microsoft's corporate vice-president Kudo Tsunoda said the company is looking to improve on their achievement by developing unparalleled gaming contents. He even claimed that the Xbox One is already "doing things that can't be done on any other console."

He was referring to Microsoft's impressive haul of exclusive games that Sony's seemingly more acclaimed hardware couldn't keep up with. The company is coming off the heels of their successful presentations at E3 and Gamescom. Many thought they had a more notable showing than their Tokyo-based rivals.

To cap off their magnificent run this year, Tsunoda and Co. are set to unveil seven new Xbox One-exclusive titles this November, along with the complete list of backwards-compatible games.
