"The Bachelor" is getting its new leading man and it's a familiar (and welcome) face. Ben Higgins, who first captured hearts in "The Bachelorette" season 11, is officially set to steal more hearts as he faces a new season on the other side of the reality show.

According to Variety, the news was announced during the live episode of "After Paradise." Speaking to host Chris Harrison, the charming software salesman expressed his excitement for the upcoming season.

"It's incredible," Higgins said. "People like me don't get opportunities like this, and I never would have thought that this opportunity would be something that I could have and I'm excited. Everything leading up to this has just been incredible."

The 26-year-old Wisconsin native was the second runner-up in Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of "The Bachelorette". Despite failing to reach the end with Bristowe, Higgins is not giving up in his search for true love.

"I'm ready to share my life with somebody," he said, in a report by People. "And I'm not fearful of the idea of getting married. As soon as I can find that person, it seems like the better life will be."

Even Bristowe is supportive of her former beau's decision to become the next bachelor on television. Before the announcement was made public, "The Bachelorette" graduate told Variety that she would like to see Higgins as the star of the famous show.

"I think it's Ben H.," she said. "I think he's just God's gift to women. Not sure why I didn't see that, but, I mean, men, women, their dogs, they all love Ben H."

This time around, the choice is in Higgins' hands and he already has an idea of what he's looking for. In the interview with People, he described his perfect woman as a "partner and best friend."

The reality show's resident nice guy is looking for a nice girl to suit him. "Somebody who doesn't get along with people in the house is not the best girl to get in a relationship with," he points out, adding that he's attracted to women like Blake Lively who seems like an "all-around good girl".

Ladies looking for commitment need not fret, because Higgins is a man who's already looking to settle down. "Ideally at the end of this, I will be proposing," he said. "That would be a really cool thing."
