The Green Bay Packers received terrible news this week. Star wide receiver Jordy Nelson is going to miss the entire season because of a torn ACL he suffered in the preseason. It's very difficult to find quality free agent wide receivers at this point considering we're almost in September, but there are a few notable players who the Packers may want to sign.

Here are five free agent wide receivers the Packers could try.

1. Santana Moss

He has more than 10,000 career receiving yards, but age has definitely caught up to him. Santana Moss used to be one of the most feared down-field threats in the league with the New York Jets and Washington Redskins. Last year he posted career lows playing on a dreadful Redskins squad, but bringing in Moss could be worth a try. He obviously won't be able to replace Nelson, but if Moss can show that old burst of speed, he just may get some playing time.

2. Wes Welker

Wes Welker is probably the most high profile and accomplished name currently unsigned at the moment. Last season was highlighted with head injuries, which led to a disappointing 464 yards. Welker is just a year removed from his highest touchdown season (10) of his career with the Denver Broncos, more than he ever scored with the New England Patriots. Health is a big concern with Welker, but he could work well playing alongside Randall Cobb. If anyone can revive Welker's career, it would be Aaron Rodgers.

3. Brandon Lloyd

Lost in the free agent shuffle is one Brandon Lloyd. Lloyd has played for the Patriots, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams. In 2010 he led the entire NFL with 1,448 receiving yards and also had 11 touchdown grabs. Not that long ago in 2012 he had 911 receiving yards with the Patriots. Lloyd is used to switching teams quite a bit, so joining the Packers on a one year deal wouldn't be anything new to him. As a member of the Bears, he has already played in the NFC North.

4. Jerry Rice

Wait, What? Who? No, not that Jerry Rice, Jerry Rice Jr. of course. Still just 24 years old, Rice could be worth bringing in for a workout at no risk whatsoever. Don't expect him to have the same impact as his Father. Rice was signed by the Redskins last year, but was waived after he suffered a shoulder injury. Rumors have been swirling with Randy Moss, but don't expect the 38-year-old to comeback anytime soon. The Patriots recently signed Reggie Wayne, so free agent options have become very limited.

5. Robert Meachem

He's never been an elite wideout, but Robert Meachem is still a solid player with good hands. Meachem has played six of his seven years with the New Orleans Saints catching balls from Drew Brees. Three times he caught more than 600 yards, and in 2009 he had a career high nine touchdowns. Meachem also played a big role in the Saints winning the Super Bowl that year. According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Lions have worked out with Meachem this offseason. Meachem is still just 30 years old.
