Today's age of social media and video streaming means that "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah" is seeking to expand its user experience by putting new footprints in the streaming market via platform expansions.

According to a press release from Comedy Central, expanding to a greater online presence will give users a chance to indulge in their favorite content from "The Daily Show" with all new original content being produced for the online expansion platforms.

Additionally, the network has hired comedian and writer Baratunde Thurston to oversee the expansion project and make it a salable product for the emerging venture. His former chops as an entrepreneur and comedian in the entertainment industry makes him a solid choice for the role.

"Baratunde brings a very unique set of skills to 'The Daily Show.' We've been admirers of his comedic work on all platforms for a long time," said Michele Ganeless, president of Comedy Central, in the release. "We're thrilled he is joining the team and can't wait to see what he and the team create for the show under Trevor Noah."

Thurston's own resume includes co-founding Cultivated Wit, authoring The New York Times bestselling novel "How to Be Black," and he was the digital director for online satirical news outlet The Onion.

Thurston himself was very exited to take on the venture with Comedy Central.

"This must be what it's like to have Nick Fury call and welcome you to 'The Avengers.' I'm honored and floored and so many other verbs," Thurston said. "Also, I really love that quote by Michele Ganeless because she makes me sound like Liam Neeson. I will definitely be sharing that on multiple digital and social outlets."

Thurston made good on his promise and took to Twitter to announce the news to his followers.
