With the ongoing success enjoyed by Apple in recent years, it's hard to imagine the Cupertino-based tech giant being overtaken by rival smartphone makers.

If latest data from an analytics firm is to be believed, the iOS manufacturer hasn't shown signs of slowing down.

According to comScore, Apple has remained the premiere smartphone maker in April, June and July 2015.

Sales of iOS devices have constituted 44.2 percent of OEM market share during the last three months. That number translates to 191.4 million iOS users in the U.S. However, Apple isn't resting on its laurels.

To compete with Spotify, Apple Music was released in June. The streaming service is paved with good intentions for iOS users, but it has received backlash lately due to interface issues and system bugs.

"There's a lot of work going into making the product better. Our focus is on editorial and playlists, and obviously we have teams all around the world working on that, but we're also adding features and cleaning up certain things," iTunes vice president Oliver Schusser said to The Guardian.

Going back to the recent statistics, South Korean mobile company Samsung came in second with 27.3 percent, LG third with 8.7 percent, Motorola fourth with 4.9 percent and HTC fifth with 3.5 percent.

"This has to be a particularly depressing reality for Samsung, which really did step up its game this year with the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. But when the premium Android market is getting hammered not just by Apple's larger iPhones but by zero-margin vendors such as Xiaomi, making money on high-end hardware sales is a tough proposition," BGR wrote.

As for Google, its Android software was touted as the foremost smartphone platform. It garnered 51.4 percent platform market share at the end of July. Apple's iOS came in second with 44.2 percent. Though, the list begins to plummet from there. Microsoft's Windows OS was the far third with 2.9 percent, BlackBerry ranked fourth with 1.3 percent while Symbian barely ranked at all with 0.1 percent.

The top smartphone apps were also ranked. The data were gathered from users aged 18 and up. Here's the list of the fifteen most used apps from April to July with their corresponding market share reach:

1. Facebook – 73.3 percent
