Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler injured his left hamstring Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and is out for two weeks.

The NFL reports, Cutler, who signed a seven-year $126 million extension with the Bears last season, injured his left hamstring while trying to tackle Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson, who intercepted a pass intended for Martellus Bennett deep in Chicago territory.

According to the Chicago Bears Twitter account, tests revealed that Cutler is diagnosed with a strained hamstring but isn't severe as originally thought. Here is the tweet:

Currently, Jimmy Clausen is the second-string quarterback and will start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Clausen replaced Cutler last week and finished 14-23 with 121 passing yards and a passer rating of 56.6. Clausen has the nightmarish task of leading the Bears into CenturyLink Field, where it is considered to be the loudest stadium in the NFL.

When asked if the team would sign another quarterback to the roster, Coach John Fox stated, "Think we'll evaluate that, and we have all the way until Saturday to do anything like that."

After being acquired by the Bears before the 2009 season, Cutler has had a roller coaster tenure with the team. In his seven years with the Bears, Cutler has thrown for over 16,000 yards with 131 touchdowns and 95 interceptions.

He led the Bears to the 2010 NFC Championship game where they were defeated by the Green Bay Packers. This was the last time that the Bears made the playoffs.

If all goes well, Cutler is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Oct. 11 at Kansas City Chiefs.
