Xiaomi received flak from Chinese tech aficionados last April 2015. This was because the China-based mobile manufacturer decided to debut its latest budget smartphone (at that time) in India rather than China.

As it turns out, Xiaomi had better plans for the Chinese. The Mi 4c, basically an improved version of the Mi 4i, is scheduled to release in the "Red Dragon" country in the coming weeks. But before it officially does, fans can now start picking what Mi 4c color scheme would best suit their styles.

The handset was recently photographed in three color variants, and leakers didn't think twice about sharing the image online. Click here to view the image.

According to Times News, fans can go with a pink, black or blue Mi 4c.

Whichever color they end up choosing, the handset will have its main camera situated on the left of its back panel and will have the trademark "MI" logo at the base of its rear, slightly above what seems to be the handset's speakers. Furthermore, the Mi 4c was shown to be packed in an orange box although other contents of the packaging weren't revealed.

In other Mi 4c news, Xiaomi president and co-founder Lin Bin recently boasted on social media the handset's seemingly superior selfie shooter.

According to images posted by Bin in Weibo via Tech Grapple, the Mi 4c's five-megapixel front-facing unit will feature an 85-degree super wide angle image detector with a self-timer option.

The capability allows the Mi 4c's front camera to include six to seven people in one shot. Bin was even generous enough to share an image comparing the Mi 4c's front camera with that of the iPhone 6. Take a look at the comparison here.

As seen on the image, the Mi 4c covers more ground than the iPhone 6 although it's worth mentioning the latter is only equipped with a 1.2-megapixel front-facing unit.

Regarding the handset's other internal specs, the Mi 4c is said to have a five-inch 1080p touchscreen display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 on chip with hexa-core CPU and a decent 3,120 mAh battery.

The cheapest model of the Mi 4c will contain 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal memory. There is also a 3GB RAM/32GB storage model of the handset. It has also been reported that a 64GB variant of the Mi 4c could be available.

Lastly, the Mi 4c will be fitted with a 13-megapixel main camera and will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop underneath Xiaomi's latest MIUI 7 OS.
