The Los Angeles police department is considering filing criminal charges against Bill Cosby in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place in 2008 at the Playboy Mansion.

The LA Times reports investigators have submitted their findings from the probe to the district attorney's office, which is now reviewing the data to determine if they will criminally charge the now 78-year-old comedian.

Chloe Goins, 24, has told authorities she met the "Cosby Show" dad at a party when she was just 18, and he gave her a drink that immediately caused her to black out. After becoming nauseated from her drink, Goins was advised to rest in a nearby bedroom, with Cosby showing her the way. She claims by the time she awoke, she found herself naked on a bed and Cosby biting her toes with his pants down around his ankles.

Police previously interviewed Goins for more than two hours, while attorneys for Cosby have insisted he wasn't even at the party.

Sources indicate the time Goins charges she was victimized puts her claim just outside the state's statute of limitations law, but any evidence gleaned from proceedings in her case could be admissible in future proceedings against Cosby in order to demonstrate a pattern of abuse. To date, more than 50 women have accused Cosby of drugging and sexually abusing them over a period of over four decades.

Cosby faces an upcoming deposition hearing later this month in another California case, in which former Playboy bunny Judy Huth alleges he assaulted her at the Mansion more than 40 years ago when she was just 15 years old.

Attorneys for Cosby have vehemently denied all the accusations, and he has never been criminally charged.
