Republican White House hopefuls Donald Trump and Marco Rubio battled over a mock "care package" of bottled water and towels that the real-estate tycoon had sent the Florida senator.

In an apparent jab at the "perpetually sweating" Rubio, the Trump campaign arranged for a delivery of a 24-bottle case of "Trump Ice Natural Spring Water" -- featuring a label with the tycoon's likeness -- as well as two "Make America Great Again" towels and bumper stickers, CNN reported.

"Since you're always sweating, we thought you could use some water. Enjoy!" read a note that accompanied the mailing.

Rubio, for his part, seemed only marginally amused by the stunt, Politico noted, though he used the incident to mock Trump's trademark pompousness in an interview with "Fox and Friends."

"I heard it's very high-quality water. Apparently, Evian are a bunch of losers," the senator said. "It is what it is. Yeah, I drink water. So what?"

The son of Cuban immigrants and the former "Apprentice" star have traded their fair deal on jabs recently, and Trump went so far as to use Rubio's self-deprecating humor against his rival for the Republican nomination, the New York Daily News reported.

In allusion to an often-mocked moment during his 2013 Republican State of the Union response -- when he had drank from a bottle of water on camera -- Rubio quipped during last month's GOP debate he had made sure to bring his own water.

But the Floridian still perspired heavily during the televised event, and Trump made sure to point fingers at his competitor's predicament.

"I've never seen a young guy sweat that much. He's drinking water, water, water. I never saw anything like this with him with the water," he said at a recent campaign event. "They bring it in in buckets for this guy."

Rubio, for his part, has chided Trump as "touchy" and "insecure."
