Undefeated middleweight champion Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin considers his unification bout on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York against International Boxing Federation title holder David Lemieux as a "big test" for him.

The World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization king shares that he is training hard in preparation for this big challenge, Fight News reported.

"Camp has been very good. A great atmosphere. We have brought in a new idea and strategy. He is a champion, this is a unification fight. I think he is ready. This is like a big test for me," the 33-year-old knockout master said.

The Kazakh warrior, who delivered 30 of his 33 wins by way knockout, per BoxRec, is also anticipating the upcoming boxing war because it had always been his dream to stage a fight at the venue.

"It's the Mecca of Boxing. I think this is a big step. Expect a big drama show," said Golovkin to Fight News.

Basing on the video above showing the unbeaten boxer training in Wild Card West Boxing Gym in California, per Fight Hype, "GGG" looks serious in keeping his two championship belts and getting a third one in just over a week from now.

Both the boxer's trainer Abel Sanchez and his promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 promotions agree that this is a milestone for "Triple G." Sanchez shares that with Lemieux, his fighter "finally sees someone with a challenge for him." Loeffler states that this showdown means a lot to "Triple G" as it his first unification battle and commends Lemieux for being brave enough to face the fearsome warrior.

It has long been a problem of Golovkin to get a fight with top-notch boxers. Max Kellerman of HBO told Fight Hype that he could not consider putting "Triple G" on the top pound-for-pound spot after Floyd Mayweather Jr. confirms his retirement, albeit his unblemished record and knockout artist reputation.

"'Triple G' has scared guys away. I don't have him up high pound for pound because he hasn't proven it yet because they don't want to fight him. The only guy that wanted to fight him was favored to beat him was Andre [Ward]," Kellerman said, as quoted by Boxing News 24.

However, Lemieux, who is regarded by the WBA and IBO champ as "dangerous," per a Fight Hype clip, may not have the reason to be scared at all. He also posts a high 86 percent knockout rating, per BoxRec, and whom Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar De La Hoya believes will put down the mighty Kazakh, making him boxing's new superstar, a separate article from Fight News noted.
