As Apple continues to fight against the jailbreak community in the quest for smartphone control, an important question looms in the distance: Will the tech giant ultimately put an end to the jailbreaking of iOS devices?

It is a legitimate question but the answer still remains unclear. Apple routinely launches new versions of the iPhone and jailbreak developers have to spend months trying to crack the code before the release to the general public. By the time the jailbreak is released, Apple is usually just months away from yet another iPhone release.

In addition, Apple has introduced new security features with each release in an attempt to thwart the efforts of the jailbreakers who take advantage of the iPhone platform to come up with new tweaks and changes that are catered to users in ways that Apple does not.

Anthony Leather of Forbes wrote an article this week about the evolving relationship between jailbreakers and Apple and how the tech giant will soon likely have the upper hand.

"Apple is set to release IOS 7.1 any day now and as many jailbreakers now know thanks to access to the IOS 7.1 beta, this new IOS update will include patches that break the evasi0n jailbreak tool for good," he wrote. "This means that we're likely to see a lengthy period, maybe even as long as a year, before another jailbreak is released."
