Season 18 of Dancing With the Stars, like any other season, has a slew of new celebrity contestants. This year, however, there will also be a new face on stage in Erin Andrews, Brooke Burke-Charvet's replacement. The new host and her predecessor have both shared what the change means for them.

From season 10 until season 17, Burke-Charvet, a former DWTS winner, co-hosted the ABC series. With her popularity and history with the show, it was shock when she was dropped, even for Burke-Charvet herself.

"Finding out that I would not be returning to the ballroom just weeks before the premiere was quite a shake up," she explained on Modern Mom. "I would have appreciated a heads-up and the courtesy of communication, but we are not always privileged to get that in the work place."

The former host struggled in telling her children the difference between being fired, quitting and "being let go," but is ready to move on from eight season run.

"I had the honor to work beside Tom Bergeron, whom I adore and have great respect for," Burke-Charvet continued. "I learned many valuable life lessons and TV skills in the chaos of live television. I am very grateful for my time at DWTS and I'm never greedy -- eight seasons was the perfect run. I will always celebrate my coveted Mirrorball trophy and all that it parlayed me into. I'll never forget dancing in the arms of the brilliant Derek Hough and how he helped me to find the rhythm in my own world."

Now it is up to Andrews to fill the hole left by Burke-Charvet's abrupt departure. In order to do that, Andrews is going straight to the source.

"Like I said to Brooke, 'If I can be half of what you are to these contestants, I'll be happy,'" Andrews told Access Hollywood. "Because every single one of these dancers that have been around her said she's just the kindest person, and I just hope to be like that."

Andrews, a third place season 10 contestant, says she's rooting for fan favorite and former partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

"Always, always [I'm rooting for Chmerkovskiy]," Andrews said.
