John Cena is about to take some time off from the WWE after the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on Oct. 25 at the Staples, Center in Los Angeles, Calif. He is set to miss live events, TV shows and upcoming pay-per-views for November and December, with his return reportedly at the Madison Square Garden Live event on Dec. 26, per What Culture.

The absence of Cena comes in at a bad time as the WWE ratings have been on an all-time low since the three-hour RAW started, as reported by Cage Side Seats. Now, there have been a lot of speculations on why the 38-year-old is taking some time off. Is he injured? Is he going to get married to Nikki Bella?

According to Daily DDT, the U.S. champion is currently not injured and does not have any plans on marriage. Nikki is not set to miss any time, which means that no wedding is about to happen.

As reported by F4WOnline, the 15-time WWE World champion taking time off is due to "personal reasons." It is not clear what "personal reasons" mean, but Scott Keith of Scott's Blog of Doom has the answer.

"A friend in the fitness industry is working on a fitness-themed reality show for FOX. The show is set to air in the spring. He and a few others were told this week that the filming window is set for Oct. 26 to the first or second week of January, and that it will take 6-8 weeks to do everything. They also found out that the host of the show is going to be John Cena. I'm guessing this explains his rumored hiatus after HIAC," Keith said on his blog.

It seems like a reasonable explanation on why Cena is taking time off. At his age, the U.S. champion is probably starting to think about his career outside of wrestling much like The Rock, Dave Batista and Stone Cold Steve Austin. He was rumored to be leaving the WWE back in July, but quickly shut down the idea, per Wrestle Zone.

Nothing is confirmed, but this is not the first time that Cena has been in hiatus for filming a project outside WWE. In 2004, he was written out of the television to film "The Marine," as per another report from What Culture.

Cena is still the U.S. champion and the future of the title may be decided at Hell in a Cell. As reported by Christian Today, Big E. of The New Day and Dolph Ziggler are the front-runners in dethroning the champ as he takes his hiatus. Storyline-wise, Ziggler would be the logical choice as they could feud over Nikki Bella, as seen in the season finale of Total Divas.
