Aroldis Chapman is one of the best closers in the MLB and the hardest thrower in all of baseball as he clocks in above 100 mph when he pitches his fastball, per Cincinnati.com. The Cincinnati Reds had a forgettable season as they seem to be close to rebuilding and Chapman might be first to be dealt.

The report added some of the reasons why the 27-year-old left-hander should be traded. First is his salary, as he made $8.05 million this season and is arbitration eligible this offseason that could give him $12 million in 2016. Also, he is set to become a free agent after next season and will be looking for a contract close to the four-year, $46 million deal the Chicago White Sox has given David Robertson last offseason.

Second is the fact that the Reds need some starting pitching and hitting, and the Cuban defector can bring a couple of prospects. Bleacher Report notes that the Reds are a rebuilding franchise and should do what the Atlanta Braves did in the offseason when they traded their lights-out closer Craig Kimbrel to the San Diego Padres.

The Braves received a starting center fielder in Cameron Maybin and received a top pitching prospect in Matt Wisler. The Reds could receive the same kind of players if they trade Chapman. In a report by Federal Baseball, the Washington Nationals pursued the left-handed pitcher, but Cincinnati wanted top infielder prospect Wilmer Difo and second-highest ranked pitching prospect Reynaldo Lopez. However, it was seen as too much by Washington, and, instead, traded for Philadelphia Phillies' Jonathan Papelbon.

Chapman had a great year as he had 33 saves in 36 chances with 1.63 ERA, 116 strikeouts and 15.7 K/9 innings, per Baseball-Reference.com. He threw a total of 66 ⅓ innings and had some stretches, where he was unused as the Reds were having a losing record.

A report by the Associated Press noted that Chapman pitched the 62 fastest pitches in the majors this season based on the new Statcast computer system. The 62 pitches have an average range of 103.92 mph to 102.36 mph while his fastball has an average of 99.5 mph.

The Swingin A's reports that the Oakland Athletics could target Chapman as the team have the worst bullpen in the league this season. It also noted that only Sean Doolittle will be the only reliever that would remain in the Athletics' bullpen, and the team has a surplus of starters, which in turn is what the Reds are lacking.
