In Episode 5 of "Castle" Season 8, entitled "The Nose," Castle (Nathan Fillion) is so desperate to woo his wife back, he's willing to turn to a smell specialist for assistance.

TV Line reports Stephnie Weir ("MADtv") guest stars as a "nose-witness" to the theft of a priceless work of art and the murder of its transporter. Between assisting Castle and Captain Beckett (Stana Katic) in solving that crime, the witness also proves to be a potential godsend to Castle, who hopes she can help him put his other biggest worry behind him.

Castle has been concerned for several episodes with reconciling with Beckett, his overworked and stressed out newlywed bride, who recently pulled the plug on their relationship. In a promo for the episode, the witness assures Castle his wife still has the hots for him; she can smell it.

Speculation is the two could actually find their way back to one another sometime around Episode 9 of the season.

Meanwhile, co-showrunner Alexi Hawley recently told TV Line the show's scheduling and new split-season format will prevent the series from airing its popular annual Christmas-themed episode this year.

"Unfortunately, because of the way ABC is platforming us -- we do eight episodes and end [Nov. 23], and we're not on again until the beginning of February -- we won't be on the air for the holidays," he said.

As if that news wasn't a source of enough gloom, reports are there will be an upcoming episode where Katic will only be minimally featured because of other commitments. ABC officials have declined to comment on these rumors.

"Castle" also stars Jon Huertas as Javier Esposito, Seamus Dever as Kevin Ryan, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Toks Olagundoye as Hawley Vargas and Tamala Jones as Lanie Parish.
