Terence Crawford should impress Manny Pacquiao with a superb performance against Dierry Jean on his first World Boxing Organization super lightweight title defense on Oct. 24 at the CenturyLink in Nebraska to get a shot at "Pacman."

To have an opportunity of being the next opponent of boxing great Pacquiao is such an honor for "Hunter," Los Angeles Times reported. However, he will still be focused on his match this Saturday to secure his WBO crown. Yet, it is actually the best thing to do, as it will hit two birds with one stone, so to speak.

"Who wouldn't think about it? That's the fight we want. Right now, we just want to focus on Jean, but [Pacquiao]...that's a big opportunity for me, and if I was ever given that opportunity, I'd do my best to seize it," the unbeaten boxer said.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, who promotes both Crawford and the Filipino fighter, confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the eight-division world champion will be observing the fight so that he can base his decision on this for his comeback and final fight next year.

"It's all up to Manny. I want to see a good performance from Crawford. He's fighting a good fighter, and Manny is the kind of proud guy who looks for the toughest opponent," said the 83-year-old promoter.

"So if Crawford gives a great performance, it enhances him as a Manny opponent," the executive added.

The Odds are in Crawford's Favor?

There's a great chance that Crawford will be Pacquiao's foe on his farewell fight next year.

As early as June, just a month after Pacquiao's loss against undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Arum already threw in Crawford's name in the mix of possible opponents for Pacquiao, per an ES News interview.

Recently, Arum again told Yahoo! Sports that he is considering Crawford for "Pacman" along with WBO welterweight champ Timothy Bradley, who met Pacquiao for two fights.

"Pacman" told ESPN Deportes that he want to have a rematch with Mayweather, but most likely, he's seeing British fighter Amir Khan as his opponent, noted Boxing Scene. However, Khan told The National that he is withdrawing from the negotiations for their proposed fight next year because he felt that his former sparring partner is stalling and could be waiting for Mayweather.

With Khan pulling out of the fight talks, Crawford's chances are getting higher, and a sensational win against Jean will truly catch "Pacman's" attention.
