The long-standing feud between UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo Jr. and Interim UFC Featherweight Champion "Notorious" Conor McGregor is set to finally happen as they will clash in a unification bout at UFC 194 on Dec. 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two were set to battle for the Featherweight title in UFC 189 as they embarked on a world tour promoting the fight, but Aldo suffered a broken rib, per MMA Fighting. The fight was cancelled but Chad Mendes stepped up to fight McGregor for the interim belt.

Aldo released a statement saying that the interim belt was just a toy and he was the real champion. "If McGregor beats Chad Mendes, the only thing he will have is a toy belt to show his drunk friends in his country's bars, because that's what an interim belt represents to me: a toy. I am the champion," Junior said as quoted by MMA Fighting.

"Notorious" defeated Mendes via a second round knockout to win the interim title. In his first press conference, the Irish had some harsh words for Aldo. "I am now the world champion. You claim it's the interim champion, but Jose went running. Jose's a scared little man who did not show up to fight and sat under his covers, praying for Chad Mendes to win," McGregor said as quoted by The Independent.

"His whole team were praying for Chad Mendes to win so he would not face me. But his prayers went unanswered and I dominated and won," he added.

The latest shot fired by "Notorious" was via The Daily Mail during the Takeover Q&A at the Wright Venue. "I'm not a million per cent he'll show up. If he shows up, he'll be too emotional and, even if I half feint, he'll overreact and drain all his energy. He'll overload on a shot, I'll slip and big him with a left hand and put him away," the Irsihman said.

During a recent interview at the Rio Sport and Health, Aldo talked to fans about his fight with McGregor, per Globo. "My focus is to win, nothing but to win, and you can be sure that I will lay hands on him like I've never done to anyone else," Aldo said as translated by MMA Junkie.

"I'm sure he will leave the fight very hurt, and I'm leaving with the victory," he added.

MMA Junkie added that Jose Aldo has an MMA record of 25 wins and one loss, with an undefeated record in the UFC in seven fights. On the other hand, Conor McGregor has a record of 18 wins and two defeats with six wins in all six fights inside the Octagon.
