Fans who were disappointed to hear that Game of Thrones plans to end after seven or eight seasons have a new reason to get excited all over again. Series creator George R. R. Martin has revealed that the fantasy epic could be coming to the big screen.

The best-selling author of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, from which the HBO television show is based, discussed possible plans to adapt the series to a feature film after the Game of Thrones season four premiere in New York.

"It all depends on how long the main series runs," Martin said to The Hollywood Reporter. "Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know."

Martin went on to suggest that they could make movies based on the three series prequels he penned, the Tales of Dunk and Egg. The novellas feature a young knight who lived 90 years prior to the start of the current series.

"They could be the basis for [a film]", said Martin. "I have written these three stories, and I have about a dozen more."

Meanwhile, fans eagerly anticipate the start of Game of Thrones' fourth season, which, according to Entertainment Weekly, could be the most intense yet. The magazine reports that this season will have more deaths than ever before.

"We always before had breathing room episodes before," said showrunner David Benioff. "There's just no relaxing this season. If we can pull this off, it will top season 3."

The fourth trailer for the upcoming season has been released and it looks to be as action packed as promised. Check it out and leave your reactions in the comment section below. Season 4 is set to debut on April 6th.
