If you're a '90s baby, or a fan of '90s pop music, this bit of news will send you into squeals of joy: two of the biggest bands of the era -- Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls -- are reuniting for a world tour! But, unfortunately, subsequent reports are suggesting that while this was definitely discussed, it's most likely not going to happen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, as it stands right now, the BSB are currently on a tour of North America and enjoying real success. As for the Girls, if they do decide to reunite, it will be sans Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), who believes that work is for the peasants (kidding, kidding). In all seriousness, between Victoria's demands of motherhood, the clothing line, and frittering around behind David Beckham, she really doesn't have the time to follow the Girls around on tour... and besides, she's doing alright for herself financially.

Actually, the Spice Girls had their last group show at the London Olympics in 2012. After that performance, Victoria Beckham put the kibosh on any future performances in an interview with Vanity Fair Italy, saying the Olympics was the "perfect time to say, 'That's great. Thank you to everybody, but no more.'"

On the other hand, however, if you believe MTV.com, the rumors about a Spice Girls/Backstreet Boys tour are simply not true. The Boys will, however, be going on tour with Avril Lavigne this summer (yeah, that really makes up for it... suddenly we're not so disappointed... NOT) before going on the Backstreet Cruise in October.

The rumor caught fire after BSB's Brian Littrell reportedly told U.K.'s The Sun: "We are actually in early talks about maybe doing a world tour together with the Spice Girls." This statement, of course, set the Internet on fire as rumors of the tour began to sprout about.

Oh, to dream...
