Actress Gina Rodriguez discussed her body issues due to Hashimoto disease in a recent social media post about a revealing photoshoot.

The "Jane The Virgin" star shared a photo on Instagram from a recent photoshoot with Cosmo for Latinas. She revealed how being diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, a thyroid disease that affects her metabolism, affected her body image.

In October 2014, the actress talked about being diagnosed with thyroid disease when she was 19, which was later discovered to be Hashimoto's thyroiditis, reported Entertainment Tonight.

The actress can be seen posing dressed in a black skirt, birdcage veil and a short black blazer with no shirt. Rodriguez admitted that she was not accustomed to the revealing look, but that she was proud of the image.

"This one was difficult for me, as many women can understand because I am showing more skin then I am used to. As a woman with hashimotos, my struggle with health and weight and body acceptance in this industry has been a loving, painful, growing, exposing, vulnerable and incredible journey," she captioned the image. "And to come to a place where I love the skin I am in and it isn't defined by anyone's expectations or limitations is beyond freeing. I love this picture because I feel like young Gina finally made herself her own hero."

In a March interview with Glamour, the 31-year-old actress spoke about not meeting Hollywood beauty standards. She explained that she tries not to let unrealistic standards get to her head and reminds herself that she is beautiful.

Even though her career has included features in various magazines, Rodriguez explained that when she sees photoshopped images of herself, she thinks, "Those are their standards, definitely not mine."
