The Samsung Galaxy J3 will reportedly arrive in the U.S. sometime next year. Per VentureBeat, AT&T and Sprint will both offer the handset on contract. Not only that, it will be available on prepay through Cricket Wireless, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. The first one is an AT&T subsidiary while the other two are owned by Sprint.

Samsung has yet to give an official word on how much the J3 will cost, but it is safe to presume that the device will be a budget-friendly offering.

So what of its innards? Firstly, the J3 flaunts a five-inch Super AMOLED screen that displays images in 720 x 1280 resolution.

AMOLED stands for Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode. The display technology improves some aspects of last-gen IPS LCD screen. AMOLED lights individual pixels separately atop a thin film transistor, making multiple color schemes more enhanced. Light tones are brighter while black hues are recognizably darker, Gizmag reports.

Going back to the J3, it is powered by a Qualcomm's four-core Snapdragon 410 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz. RAM and internal memory is pegged at 1.5GB and 8GB, respectively. Would-be buyers shouldn't fret as the device supports storage expansion up to 128GB via microSD slot. The lights are kept on by a removable 2,600 mAh battery.

GSMArena points out that the J3's eight-megapixel back camera is capable of capturing 1080 x 1920 resolution images at 30 frames per second. The handset's five-megapixel front-facing unit takes selfies and holds video chats at a decent rate.

For the time being, the J3 boots Android Lollipop straight out the box, but Samsung still has time to update it to Android 6.0 Marshmallow before it releases. Alleged color options are black, white and gold.

Rumors about the J3's arrival in the U.S. first got out in October when the device showed up in benchmark listings. The J3 received its certification from the FCC a month later, paving the way for its impending U.S. debut.

The J3, with model number SM-J3109, got the green light from the FCC in November. According to TimesNews, the documents did not bear a photo of the Galaxy J3 nor revealed its complete specs sheet. However, they did indicate that the handset underwent 2G, 3G and LTE connectivity tests.

Tech pundits were caught off guard by the sudden development since the Galaxy J2 was just released in September. The handset was launched in India priced at the equivalent of $129. It featured a 4.7-inch screen with 540 x 960 resolution display, Samsung's Exynos 3475 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and a 2,000 mAh battery. Camera combo was quoted at five and two megapixels.
