According to Movie News, Robert Downey Jr. suggested that he would be in Iron Man 4 if Mel Gibson directs it. The Brave Heart director just recently finished directing his new movie Hacksaw Ridge, which marks a major comeback for his reputation. When he was asked about his thoughts of directing Iron Man 4, he said " It might be fun. You'd have to figure out a way to be different with that".

Most of the fans hope that Robert Downey keep his word of returning to Iron man 4 if his condition is met. He is excited to be the sequel if Mel Gibson will helm the movie. But, with all this, there are also rumors that the veteran actor might take over the director's chair. Gibson doesn't seem to have a problem with directing the movie and is open about it. Thus, it gives fans the belief that Gibson is definitely onboard.

Reports from Movie Web states that, given the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Man 4 will happen after Avengers: Infinity War, and Gibson doesn't seem close off to the idea, and by the time Avengers: Infinity War is released, Tony Stark would need to be a bit different, and Gibson says he is very capable of different.

With all the movies directed by Mel Gibson, even with the latest Hacksaw Ridge, there was always something different in them, so if anyone should be directing Iron Man 4, he looks like the perfect one to make a difference for the movie.
