The Golden State Warriors reached the first milestone of their Championship dream on Saturday night, by officially clinching a playoff berth with an 112-95 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Despite being heavily expected, they have now headed back again to the Playoffs and are on the track of redeeming themselves after last year's disappointing loss to the Cavaliers in the Finals.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Warriors, who will begin a five-game road trip Monday night in Philadelphia, has officially become the first team to qualify for the postseason. It is the fifth straight season that they have done so, and in the process, they have also improved their league-best record to 49-9 in the current season.

This team definitely has more to prove than just qualifying for the playoffs after blowing a 3-1 lead and losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals. But nonetheless, All-Star guard Stephen Curry savored Saturday's accomplishment.

Curry scored a game-high 27 points and Klay Thompson added 24 for the Brooklyn Nets, as Golden State won their third straight game, their sixth in the last seven. Forward Kevin Durant, Warriors' leading scorer (25.7ppg), did not play due to a bruised left hand and is listed as day-to-day.

According to Fox Sports, Golden State is up for yet another challenge as they will play their next 5 games away from home. Curry believes Golden State will have to play some really good basketball on the said road trip beginning in Philadelphia, which also includes the next stops in Washington, Chicago, New York and Atlanta.

The Sixers, on the other hand, lost 110-109 Saturday night to the New York Knicks, as Carmelo Anthony torched them with 37 points, including the game-winning bucket on a baseline jumper with three-tenths of a second remaining. Philadelphia, at 22-36 continues to be without rookie center Joel Embiid, its leading scorer (20.2ppg) and rebounder (7.8rpg), who has missed the last 13 games with a bone bruise and meniscus tear in his left knee.
