Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expected to get the biggest pay check of his career in his upcoming showdown with Manny Pacquiao on May 2 at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather said, though, that the upcoming super fight between he and his biggest rival is not just about money. The 38-year-old superstar said that he is focused on protecting his legacy and he is confident he will be up to the task on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

"When you're young, you look at everything like you want nice cars, you want jewelry, you want a big house," Mayweather said. "But once you've been living like that for so long, it's not really about that anymore. It's about my children, the legacy, them getting the best education. That's what's mainly important to me."

But while he is confident he will win against Pacquiao in their May 2 fight, Mayweather is not taking any chances and working hard in camp to reach his best possible shape. He was recently seen chopping blocks of woods, which is reportedly part of his training regimen to improve his conditioning.

"I had to go back to where it all started. I just wanted to. Just for myself," Mayweather said when asked about his conditioning training. "Things just happen and you come up with different ways to gain strength, with the new era. But I had to go back to where it all started from. I like it a lot more. I like it. I appreciate it."

On the other hand, Pacquiao, who will be the 46th fighter who will try to hand Mayweather the first defeat of his career, is also reaching the penultimate stages of his training camp.

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach told The Manila Times that Pacquiao will have tough sparring sessions against young fighters, who will try to emulate the movement and speed of the reigning pound-for-pound king.

While he knows Pacquiao is facing the biggest challenge of his career, Roach is confident that Mayweather will be surprised on Cinco de Mayo weekend because he has never faced a fighter like the Filipino boxing icon.

"We prefer sparring mates who are fresh, strong and will challenge Manny by emulating various aspects of Mayweather's style," Roach said. "Tune in on May 2. Manny has waited five years for the chance to show Mayweather what a professional taste like. Manny is going to serve it up piping hot."
