Several Twitter users who own one of the most sought-after next gen consoles are encountering problems with its Blu-ray disc drive.

According to Gamepur, Sony has already admitted that some of the consoles comprising the launch stocks are in fact, defective. However, the company is reportedly working double time to get their engineers fix the problems.

Marcus Wong (@GameBoySan) "After playing around with my #PS4 for over a month, the only issue I've had is with it hanging when loading up some Blu-ray movies."

Eric Povish (@EricPovish) "@yosp will the Blu-ray player in PS4 get a patch soon? I'm having terrible playback on certain titles. The same discs play perfectly in PS3."

Devonte Davis (@Devo717) "Managed to get a ps4 that initially had Blu-ray movie problems and a defective system. #ps4 #greatnessawaits#ornot."

Eric Jensen (@Lorderk) "Has anyone out there tried playing @DespicableMe 2 Bluray on PS4? Can't get the movie to play."

Kevin Artiga (@Kevin_a90) "@AskPlayStation my fast and the furious 6 Blu-ray is not reading on ps4. And the disc is new all I c is black screen."

Artiga later on tweeted a photo offering some sort of solution captioned: "@CamDrugich45 use this pic to help you out for blu ray it worked for me pic.twitter.com/7FP47dowiJ."

Other gamers who own the next gen console resorted to playing movies using their PS3 - with which they have encountered zero problems.

The demand for the PS4 has been undeniably high. Selling over one million units in North America within 24 hours, the console has been scarce for most of the holiday season.

Sony's game console sells for $399.99 - beating rival Microsoft Xbox One in terms of price. When it comes to specs and features, the two have been continuously stacked up against each other without a clear winner.

Sony has yet to address the Blu-ray disc drive problems that gamers are echoing out on Twitter.
