The unbeaten super middleweight fighter Andre Ward (28-0 win-loss) wants a showdown with the undefeated middleweight champion, Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0 win-loss), really soon.

Ward, the more massive fighter between the two, challenged "GGG" anew via his appearance on ESPN's SportsNation, FightHype.com reported.

"It's funny to me... It seems that the media... they keep pushing the timeframe back... If you [GGG] really want to fight, less talking in the media. Let's get the network involved, HBO... Let's put it in their hands, put it in our teams hands; Andre Ward is available and we can make it happen," Ward said.

Early this month, the Kazakh warrior, who vanquished 30 of his opponents via TKOs, expressed his wilingness to face the California-born boxer who was last seen more than one and a half years ago after defeating Paul Smith, noted ESPN. Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler, revealed the terms both camps should agree upon.

"GGG is now clearly the 'A' side yet Ward still would want to dictate terms, which makes no sense. GGG would fight Ward on a 50-50 basis, the best 160-pounder versus the best 168-pounder [at] 164 [and] a 50-50 split on all proceeds," Loeffler explained.

According to Boxing News 24, Loeffler may just be "blowing smoke" and will only be committing his warrior to a clash with Ward after fall, or perhaps, even after colliding with the winner of the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez November bout.

But for the Ward camp, it seems they want the Golovkin-Ward match to happen this fall because the super middleweight fighter is also eyeing light heavyweight king Sergey Kovalev, Dan Rafael of ESPN reported. Thus, the logical step for both camps to do is to schedule Ward to box with "GGG" and then move up to light heavyweight, rather than go down from the higher weight class, which is troublesome.

With this reasoning, the Ward team should also understand GGG's side. Golovkin, who should have the greater voice in the negotiations, would also like to aim to fight within the middleweight class rather than move up. It should work well for GGG, especially if the winner of the Cotto-Canelo bout declares a catch weight of 155 pounds for the World Boxing Council mandatory challenger to meet.

Golovkin should also be protecting his interests. The clear path for GGG is what his promoter, Loeffler, recently stated, and that is for GGG to focus "on unifying the middleweight championship titles."

Golovkin vs. Ward Predictions

Although it may or may not be happening this fall, boxing experts are already favoring Ward over the knockout artist, Golovkin.

Kenny Porter, who trains former champion Shawn Porter, has named Ward as someone who could defeat Triple G, along with Andre Dirrell and Bernard Hopkins.

Even the father of the undefeated and highest paid athlete of the year, Floyd Mayweather Sr., is confident that Ward will serve GGG his first loss in his professional career.

"I think Andre Ward would beat the hell out of him. Andre Ward would beat him easy, because [Golovkin] ain't got no skills like that. Andre Ward has real skills. He has skills like my son got. He might not be better [than my son], but he got skills like my son got. Triple G would be cut off to Triple nothing," Mayweather Sr. told Hoop Jab, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

However, it may still be too early to tell. After all, the Kazakh warrior has posted a 91 KO rating and even dropped the mighty Kovalev in a sparring session, according to trainer Abel Sanchez via ThaBoxingVoice.
