The Oculus Rift finally has a price and an initial ship date. When gamers saw the $599 price for the Oculus Rift headset, many were upset about the high price.

Computer maker Alienware announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that they have developed a PC and Oculus Rift bundle that would help customers save money, PC World reports.

Alienware's founder Frank Azor and Oculus Rift founder Palmer Luckey announced the Alienware x51 PC can be purchased with the Rift headset for $1,600 total. The bundle drops the price of the Oculus Rift down to $399.

It was highly expected that the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset would cost about $350 when its price and release date was announced. This week, followers of the device were upset when they saw the actual price would be $599. Reddit users asked Luckey why the price was so high and he apologized for the misunderstanding.

To achieve the full virtual reality experience, Oculus Rift users will need to have a full setup that will include a high performance PC with an excellent graphics card.

The x51 system from Alienware is designed to be a system that will work right out of the box with the Oculus Rift headset. It will have all of the necessary system requirements for the virtual reality experience to work properly.

For customers who have already preordered the Oculus Rift headset, a $200 coupon toward the Alienware x51 gaming PC or the Dell XPS 8900 tower will be sent out in February.

At CES, Alienware's Azor also announced the Alienware 13 gaming laptop. The Alienware 13 will be the first OLED (organic LED) gaming laptop in the world. Azor said that OLED technology offers blacker black colors and super-fast response time (less than a millisecond). The Alienware 13 will be available for $1,499 when it is released.
