A whole year lies ahead with so much potential for exploration. Airbnb, the world's top community-driven hospitality service, knows the value of a good place to stay during a much-needed vacation. As the brand new year opens up more opportunities for unforgettable journeys, the company offers their own picks on the up-and-coming neighborhoods in 2016.

To predict the top neighborhoods this year, the team analyzed the travel patterns collected in 2015, when over 40 million people used Airbnb to find a house in their destination of choice. Several hubs have burst into the global scene and grew impressively, particularly Chūō-ku in Osaka, Japan, which saw a 7,000 percent growth last year.

There are more than just enticing houses in Chūō-ku. The neighborhood also boasts the famed Osaka Castle as well as scrumptious street food options that may be a big draw to tourists who want to get a taste of local delicacies and save money on restaurant fare.

While the Japan neighborhood was far and away the greatest development in the list, the other destinations also saw tremendous growth the past year including Banglampoo in Bangkok, Thailand (1,230 percent), Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1,200 percent), Capucins in Bordeaux, France (960 percent) and Koukaki in Athens, Greece (800 percent).

The rest of the top 16 destinations are the following: Triana in Seville, Spain; Hammerbrook in Hamburg, Germany; Kaneohe on Oahu, US; Meireles in Fortaleza, Brazil; Roma Sur in Mexico City, Mexico; Oak Lawn in Dallas, US; Poncey-Highland in Atlanta, GA; District VII in Budapest, Hungary; The Bukit Peninsula, Bali; Richmond in Melbourne, Australia; and Constitución in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

From Asia to Europe to South America, it seems as if the world is embracing community-driven hospitality accommodations everywhere. Airbnb head of hospitality Chip Conley explained the trend sweeping over the industry, which not only allows tourists to find a home away from home virtually anywhere but also offers a new and more intimate experience for them.

"Not only does this boost business to local coffee shops and small businesses that haven't benefitted from tourism in the past, it also helps people to experience cities through a true local lens," Conley said. "When an Airbnb traveler heads to Hammerbrook in Hamburg or Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur, with the help of hosts, they are able to see these places through eyes of a local, and embrace the culture in a completely new way."
