Pope Francis has recently prayed for the recovery of Formula One superstar Michael Schumacher, who's currently undergoing an extensive rehabilitation program after he suffered severe brain injuries during an unfortunate skiing accident at the French Alpine Resort of Meribel in Dec. 2013.

The Pope's prayer came as he offered his support for a road safety campaign, which aimed to lessen the number of children killed by cars. The said campaign was launched by Formula One.

Based on reports, the Pope's prayer for Schumacher happened on Thursday after he was visited by Formula One's governing body FIA President Jean Todt. According to Yahoo! News, Todt, who is also a close pal of the German racing legend, showed the Pope an appalling three-minute video used in the F1 road safety campaign called, "#SaveKidsLives."

"I think it made a big impression on him," Todt told Radio Vatican. "We informed him that 500 children die on roads every day and that another 20,000 are injured every day."

Todt, who was in charge of the Ferrari F1 team during Schumacher's stint, also added that he had told the Pope about the health condition of the seven-time F1 world champion.

"I asked him if he wanted to say a prayer and he happily accepted," he added, as per Daily Express.

Meanwhile, a near-total news blackout on Schumacher's health condition still continues, as per his family's request. It was also a decision defended by the Schumachers' media lawyer Felix Damm, who has continually requested to respect the family's privacy.

In other news, 47-year-old Michael Schumacher has remained as one of the richest personalities in Switzerland despite his ongoing medical expenditures. In a report by AUTOWEEK, Schumacher reportedly owned $700 to $800 million worth of property. While Mercedes F1 team principal has also moved up the rankings.

F1 boss and billionaire Bernie Ecclestone was ranked first in the sport's representation of the list, which was published by Swiss business magazine, Bilanz.

Also included in the list were Mansour Ojjeh, a Swiss-based billionaire and a shareholder of the McLaren team. Current Ferrari driving duo Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel were also among the richest people in Switzerland.

As for Schumacher's current health condition, he is still recovering in his home in Geneva, where a highly-secured and state-of-the-art medical suite was custom-built. He is also reportedly under the extensive care of medical experts 24/7 and is treated with some of the best therapies to help stimulate his organs.

BitBag also reported that his manager Sabine Kehm has recently shared that Schumacher is responding well to the treatment and they are expecting more progress in his recovery in the coming days.
